Free iPhone! Who Would've Thought That Testing a Phone Could Be This Cool?
Do you like free stuff? How would you feel about getting a $600 phone absolutely free?
If you are still reading this, I am going to go out on a limb and assume that your answers to both questions were yes! And now, your reward for being an open minded individual is that I am going to share with you a little secret: it is absolutely possible to receive a free iPhone or a free HDTV or a free Wii. But how?
The answer is very easy. You see, companies will pay consumers or marketing agencies to bring consumers for focus and testing groups. I am sure that at one point or another you have seen ads on newspapers or online from companies asking for people to come and test a product. Right?
Well, what happens is that big companies need to test out their products and get impressions from end consumers so that they can evaluate and improve upon, when necessary. The problem is that these focus groups are quite expensive and companies want to cut costs no matter what. But what does that have to do with you?
Look, it is cheaper for companies, in this case Apple, to give away a free iPhone to a group of people in different parts of the country so that they can test reception, how things work, etc. This has become particularly important with all these rumors about an antenna issue and dropped calls. This little snag for Apple means that they could potentially lose millions of customers or millions of dollars. Does this make sense?
So, it becomes easier and better for them, and for you, to give away a free iPhone. If you participate as a tester, you get to receive a brand new iPhone 4 absolutely free, the manufacturer gets to test the product out on the field and everyone wins. Now, I don't know about you, but that sounds like a pretty good deal, doesn't it?
